Our promise

Advertising and affiliate policy

Today there are no adverts, no sponsored content and no affiliate links on Anglers End. If that changes, this page sets out exactly how they will be labelled and what will never be for sale.

Labelling paid content

UK advertising rules say an advert must be obviously identifiable as an advert. The rules are written by the Committee of Advertising Practice and enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), and consumer law is enforced by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). We follow them like this:

  • Adverts and sponsor panels carry the word Advert or Sponsored at the top, before you read anything else, in a box that looks different from our own content.
  • Sponsored content, such as a sponsored recipe, says who paid for it at the start, not only at the end.
  • Featured directory listings are labelled Featured. Free listings are never hidden to make room for paid ones.
  • Affiliate links (links that earn us a small commission if you buy) are marked Affiliate link next to the link, and any page that contains them says so near the top. You never pay more because of an affiliate link.
  • Gifted or loaned kit is declared on any page that mentions it, even when nobody asked us to write about it.

Pages that stay advert-free

Some pages are about keeping you legal and safe. They will never carry adverts, sponsored content or affiliate links:

A safety section sponsor may be thanked by name, but never inside the advice itself, and never with a link to sell something.

Our independence

Our advice, mark notes and reviews are our own. No sponsor or advertiser sees them before they're published, can change them, or can buy a better review or a higher place in a list that isn't labelled as paid. If we ever write about a product from a company that pays us, we'll say so on that page. Most of the author's own tackle is Penn, as explained in What I fish with.

Cookies and tracking

Taking on advertising won't mean tracking you. If an advert or affiliate scheme ever needed cookies, we'd update the privacy page and ask first.

Questions or complaints

If something looks like an advert but isn't labelled, please tell us. Businesses interested in working with us can read Partner with us.
