What you need

Pulley body
As the standard pulley rig, 80lb
Main snood
30lb, with a 3/0 + 2/0 Pennell
Dropper
Size 10 swivel with beads and crimps
Dropper snood
20lb, about 20cm, size 1 hook
Lead
5–6oz on a lead link with bait clip

Build it

  1. Build the pulley rig as normal, but thread on a crimp, bead, swivel, bead and crimp before tying the lead link.
  2. Fix that dropper about halfway down the long side of the body.
  3. Tie the Pennell main snood to the end swivel and clip it to the lead link.
  4. Tie the short dropper snood and hook.
On the beach

Keep the dropper snood short so it can't reach the main snood. Over rock, leave the dropper off: it doubles the snag points.

Knots for this rig are in Knots. Line strengths, hook sizes and weights are starting points: scale them to your tackle, the ground and the tide. Diagrams are schematic and not to scale.
